Best Friends Forever

Last week Best Friend and I celebrated our Best Friend Anniversary. We met in Junior high and became Best Friends when we were High School Freshmans. To celebrate, we had Afternoon Tea at the Huntington Tea Room, my favorite tea place of all time.

We sat in the Herb Room by the window which overlooks the herb garden.

I should have taken more pictures of the delicious petite sandwiches but I was too busy eating them. Why is this tea room my favorite? It is all you can eat!

At least I remembered to get a photo of the yummy desserts.

The first time I saw my Best Friend she sat behind me in P.E. She had on thick braces and coke bottle glasses. She was shy.

It was a perfect match because I like to jibber jabber and eventually she opened up.

The day we decided to be best friends, we bought a cheap heart charm that with the words Best Friend inscribed on it that we can split in half. Though I have no idea what happened to that crappy charm, every year we celebrate that day and I feel so lucky to have
a Best Friend to go through life with.

Cake on the Mind

I have cake on the mind. It is birthday time here at the dollhouse and we are having a little soiree this Sunday for the little ladies. Princess LaLa (who turns 3 on Tuesday) is requesting a strawberry cake...the same one I made for her first birthday which was quite a hit.

But of course we had a tea party theme...

Should I do another tea party this year? ...and what will my 2nd cake be?...
Contemplating Red Velvet.
..

We will need two cakes this year since we are also celebrating my little ones 1st birthday (which has past but still, a girl needs a big party).

ps: The Strawberry cake and frosting recipes can be found at All Recipes.com,
The frosting is a cream cheese frosting.

One Lump or Two?

It is about to rain again and I'm stuck in the dollhouse doing some doll-sitting (babysitting), which means all I can do is daydream about tea time...(sigh) It has been awhile since Best Friend and I had tea together...and shes feeling under the weather as well. Looking at teapots all morning has lifted my spirits and I thought I share with you this charming set...

Tea Set Red Toile...found browsing Teapots and More
I do have some cucumbers and cream cheese and some soft
white bread, perhaps I will settle myself for
tea with my dolls today.

update: I just heard that my mummy is visiting and bringing Chinese dim sum which is just as yummy as English style tea!

Sweet Pork Buns and Custard Tarts are scrumptious with a cup of piping hot Black Tea

What can be more heavenly?

...than strawberries and cream! Devoured at the Rose Tea Room at the Huntington Library and Botanical gardens! The tea room serves an ALL YOU CAN EAT! afternoon tea with delicious warm scones, six types of finger sandwiches which include smoked salmon, watercress and cream cheese... classic cool cucumber. Desserts are mini tartlets, heart shaped butter cookies, raspberry and lemon bars, truffles....but really they had me at Strawberries and Cream!
