Once upon a time...

Fairytale Girls...

I like to imagine Little Red Riding Hood AS the big bad wolf. She's no victim.

Beauty and the Beast...Will there ever be a tale where the handsome prince is in love with a beastly girl?

You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your handsome prince.

Every girl needs their beauty sleep.

Cinderella is the classic rags to riches tale that told us girls to dream big. Why marry a normal schmo when you can find a prince to save us from life's drudgery.

Who can forget the Gothic tale of Snow White...

I have been busy here at the doll house working on new doll faces with a fairytale theme... the first of the girls of course was Alice!

More fairytale girls to be continued ...

Winter's End

Winter is almost over which means my dollfaces will soon be sporting spring time flowery dresses instead of chunky sweaters. As winter comes to an end, it is time to go to the pier on a foggy night and have some delicious steaming clam chowder!

Savor all that is winter.

Not one but TWO Strawberry Cakes

I had to make not one but 2 strawberry cakes...

I tried to get a picture of them before they got eaten... too late.

Its another "petite sandwiches" theme this year.

For my 2 little doll's joint birthday party the invitation said, "endless desserts" so I had to deliver. I made 2 strawberry cakes, chocolate chip fudge cupcakes, a variety of cookies and other scrumptiousness. I went with the 2 strawberry cakes instead of a different cake because when you have two little girls, they have to have matching everything or someone gets upset and throws a tantrum!
The sandwiches menu included the classic PB&J, organic turkey and provelone cheese, roast beef and blue cheese and a spicy buffalo chicken on roll. Throw in a couple fancy pizzas and we had a party!
My Mini cakes enjoyed her big yummy cake!

Cake on the Mind

I have cake on the mind. It is birthday time here at the dollhouse and we are having a little soiree this Sunday for the little ladies. Princess LaLa (who turns 3 on Tuesday) is requesting a strawberry cake...the same one I made for her first birthday which was quite a hit.

But of course we had a tea party theme...

Should I do another tea party this year? ...and what will my 2nd cake be?...
Contemplating Red Velvet.
..

We will need two cakes this year since we are also celebrating my little ones 1st birthday (which has past but still, a girl needs a big party).

ps: The Strawberry cake and frosting recipes can be found at All Recipes.com,
The frosting is a cream cheese frosting.

Giggles N Hugs!

One of my real life dolls (we call her Mini Cakes, pictured above) turned ONE on Saturday and we had a such fun-filled kid day. We spent the early afternoon at the local park where everyone was out since the sun finally appeared!
All the dads were out and goofing around
and making a big ruckus.

Then for dinner we went to this neat kids restaurant called Giggles N Hugs located in West Los Angeles. It is not surprising that the little ladies LOVED it and my older girl (Princess LaLa, pictured above) cried when it was time to go. The food is a bit pricey but we stuck to the safe bets. Mac N Cheese for the kids, I got the chicken Panini and Mr. Dollface got the Chicken Burger. The separate play area had a jungle gym, a few slides of different sizes, some play sets such as a kitchen, a clubhouse and a "makeup" table. The place had a lot of other toys and little bikes, and horseys as well. It also has WIFI for the adults, oh and a video game system. If you don't mind the jungle of kids and the pricey-ness then it is a good time to be had by all and a good place to wear out the kiddies.

After the restaurant fun we picked up a big red velvet cupcake for my little doll...She now understands that birthdays are so much fun!

Pictures of Childhood

Looking around my dollhouse it is not hard to find pieces of childhood laying around. Cutesy barrettes, Little Little Golden Books, pink bows, all make me quite nostalgic...

Speaking of nostalgia...this carousel horse is from the Santa Monica Pier. Opened in 1916, each horse is hand carved, rising and falling to the sound of an automated band organ. The moorish architecture provides an enchanting and magical feel.

Daydreaming Fairytales

Snow White wears a bit more eyeliner than her stepmother approves of so she got banished from the castle with nothing but the clothes on her back...and an apple.

Rain

A Play Yard in the Rain

So far the rain is quite impressive indeed! The wind has toppled one of our bushes and it was coming down pretty heavy at parts...but right now there is a break. Rainy days like this one is good for the creative soul. I am going to do some painting after I clean up my messy desk.

Here Comes the Rain!

A Big Scary Storm is supposed to hit the West Coast and we in LA are bracing for a few days of continuous rain, but I intend to look at it this way:

A Rainbow of Raindrops

I actually find it hard to believe it is going to rain that much. They always exaggerate the rain forecast here!

Introducing Doll Faced Photos!

I was looking around the dollhouse today and realize just how many doll faces are laying around waiting to be photographed. So now the shoppe will also include photographs of the utmost serious nature (ok not really, all I really want to do is smile on your (doll) face!)

I hope they don't look creepy, it wasn't my intention I swear.

My poodle Precious

I found a hedgehog in my garden.
He keeps offering me his heart.

But my heart belongs to Precious

My Very Own French Toast Flipper

I went rummaging at the local thrift store and saw this:

Now isn't this the most PERFECT flipper for french toast? It has quite a retro look and has a pink no less! Why I think it was just sitting there waiting for me to buy it because I am quite the french toast maker and connoisseur...
and buy it I did!
